ColdFusion Flickr Photos API

May 13, 2009 at 1:19 am 9 comments

I’ve written a ColdFusion CFC that integrates with the Flickr API. I know there is already another component out there written in ColdFusion, but I found that one a bit too complicated (no offense intended) and it did not do what I wanted it to do, which is simply displaying the sets and photos.

See an example of the FlickrCFC in use here Boot Camp Photos

I’m more than happy to share the code base, it’s not ready yet for publishing here but can certainly send a copy to anyone who requests it. Of course a nice text link in return is always appreciated! 😉 A text link in return is required (when you email please include the link you can offer).

I would love to get a copy of your FlickrCFC. It looks like your component does exactly what I need it to do. Such a big help!

I would also like see if FlickrCFC will allow me to access my sets and photos. I agree that most of the CF solutions for using the Flickr API are too complicated. Like you, I don’t need a comprehensive interface. I use GoDaddy shared hosting, so I don’t know if the code will run without modifications. GoDaddy disables the createObject tag, so if those are used I will need to change them to use cfinvoke. If the code will run on my shared hosting, I have several sites that will use this interface.

I would be interested in extending the codeset and adding an upload function and would be glad to provide that code to you.

Developing a new site where all photos are on Flickr and would like to share all sets as thumbnails, like you have done in your example. I’m a CF developer, so this should be easy with your CFC. Whatever kind of credit link you want, no problem. Thanks!
