CrazyDomains.com.au Review / Feedback

If this post would only help one other person with their decision on whether to use CrazyDomains.com.au for registrar it is worth it!

In my opinion and experience their:

– customer service lacks, no urgency or proper response
– their DNS system is not intuitive at all and hard to understand even for someone working with DNS for many years

Here is my latest message to them, awaiting reply from them on complaints@crazydomains.com.au.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to lodge a formal complaint about the service I received from your company.
First let me tell you that I have been working with the Internet since they created BBS, I’m no dummy and know what is involved with a transfer, how long it takes etc. (just letting them know so we can skip the usual template reply of you needed to follow this, or wait for that)

I transferred our domain executiveresults.com.au from our other registrar in the hope that we would get better service. (Other registrar failed to notify us via email about our domain expiration)

I initiated transfer on the 25th of Dec and confirmed it . Note the following in your email:
You should experience NO disruption to the service of your domain name, website or emails, and you will be notified once the process is complete.
Our website which brings in about $500 to $1000 per day in leads has been down since the 25th of Dec and is still down as we speak.  Please note that I have warned your staff about taking this further and seeking damages, I’ve had no reply or concern shown in regards to this. I’ve asked for a contact in higher management to get this matter escalated, I’ve had no response, it got completely ignored. Note that you have received all these emails as a ticket is assigned to them. Your staff shows total lack of concern or urgency for a serious situation like this.

NOTE: on the 28th I got an email from May asking to call and renew the domain. See below.

Hello Taco,

Thank you for contacting Customer Support.

Please give us a call to renew it asap.

Telephone number : (08) 9422 0855
(08) 9422 0888
1300 210 210

Regards,
May

I called ASAP as I’m sure your records will show and spoke to some Indian guy who said he could not renew it, I said that I was just asked to call and renew it, nothing I said helped. Asking to speak to someone else did not help either, he put me on hold for a while and then he came back on himself several times. Many more emails got exchanged in between then and now, but the most important thing is that TODAY when I called and spoke to someone else, they asked me for my credit card and renewed the domain. WHY COULD THIS NOT BE DONE WHEN I CALLED THE FIRST TIME!

First off, the domain should have never been down as stated in your auto reply email, secondly once May sent me an email asking to call and renew, it should have been renewed, thirdly, when I asked to speak to senior management I should have been given a contact, fourthly, your staff shold have answered my other tickets submitted with concerns and possible solutions to this matter (i.e. canceling the transfer, or asking whom I can contact higher up to get a solution).

I would like to know from you.
1. are you going to resolve this matter before we take it any further?
2. if not, please forward the contacts and addresses for us to forward proof of loss of income and further action

Here is how they handle a formal complaint. —

    Hello Taco,

    Thank you for your email.

We are sorry for your inconvenience.
The reason that the website went down during the transfer is because it was expired in the transfer process.
Looks like the domain name was about to expire when the transfer was initiated and the transfer transaction was only to transfer the domain alone and not renewing it.

We are sorry again for the inconvenience caused.
Your website is up and running now after the domain name has been renewed.

    Thank you
    Jim

    —-

NO, serious!? It went down because it expired during the transfer!? Hmm, Why in godsname was I not able to renew it when I call up to renew it? why did you not renew it when I initiated transfer? Why not offer the option right away?

The basic fact is, you screwed up and you don’t care one bit. As a business owner myself at this stage I would have offered an apology and offered a refund or something, but your half arsed template response is just not good enough.

But what you don’t realize is that even if 5 people over one year read this and decide not to join you guys, you might be missing out on several thousand dollars of income. This will give me some satisfaction.

I was on GoDaddy in the US for about 6 years. Not a single problem. Never a missed email, never had my site down. I moved accross to CrazyDomains earlier this year in the hope that having all my stuff local would speed things up a bit. Since moving though I have had nothing but grief. Email down, site down, poor service, insulting staff saying things were my fault.

    Horrible horrible horrible.

I am getting out. Any suggestions for a reliable host??

Funny enough I moved to godaddy for domain registration and DNS, for Aussie hosting I use my own server, for US hosting I use JustHost or HostGator.

    Hello All,
Crazydomains they have a call center in Bangkok and has the most horrible service ever.I used to work in the Perth office before this.
These people in Bangkok are treated very badly. They open the call center illegally without providing work permit to these people. Most of the people working here are mainly Burmese, phillipino and indian.
These people dont have work permit and the company is not registered in bangkok. Please don’t go with the crazy domains. If you have any queries about crazydomains, please email me and i will email you all the information i know about the,
    Cheers

Somehow this is not comforting to discover I am not alone. The problems described here are identical to those I have suffered and I will be switching hosts. For some reason my registrar transfer from GoDaddy did not go through and I am so glad for that! I think I dodged a bullet.

I too moved from GoDaddy when I moved here from overseas in search of a faster, smoother experience for my local business. CrazyDomains turned out to be a big fat FAIL.

Avoid CrazyDomains. CrazyDomains are crooks. CrazyDomains are incompetent. CrazyDomains are rude.

    Crap
I just purchased from them and realized their hidden cost etc.. The wording was crap and I thought I had purchased 6 years – retrospectively it turns out.
Can I transfer to another server?

Sorry to hear that absoluteweevil did they also sting you for the DNS hosting as well?

They price them selves as cheap but up sell you at every stage of the shopping cart process, in essence theres nothing wrong with that but you end up purchasing things that you actually get included from other providers like DNS hosting, Virus & Spam Filtering just to name a few.

The DNS hosting is just 1 of those things, we charge for DNS & Domain hosting together in the 1 fixed price because what are you going to do with a domain name if you cant point it anywhere or create DNS zones.

In relation to your purchase the only thing you can do is ask for a refund and move to another provider with more personalised service.

PM me if i can be of help with anything.

      Gerardo.

    Hi Taco

We are a Reseller for MIT and i can advise you that what CD are saying is a load of rubbish, when a domain name is due to expire within the 90 day renewal period it must be renewed when transferred out form one registrar to another.

So if you transfer the domain name out from Registrar 1 > Registrar 2 within that 90 renewal period it is automatically renewed at the registry its AusRegistry policy and they would have charged Crazy Domains for the move over to them.

If CD didn’t charge you thats a different story but in saying this the domain name should have not gone down due to the renewal being due if they had done everything properly.

Transfers outside of the 90 Day period between registrars are free in Australia for AU domains as we have a 2 year renewal policy.

other TLD’s .com .net etc are an automatic renewal and extension as these domains are only registered for 1 year at a time.

Some other specific domains for designated countries may have their own renewal policies.

Transfer periods between registrars for .AU TLD (Top Level Domains) can take up to 2 business to complete.

Let me know if you need any more info as we can provide you with the low down 🙂

    “”Cheers speak soon.
    Gerardo.

I have been with Crazy Domains for 3 years. I have only had one outage but it was quickly resolved by a simple phone call. All this took around 15 minutes at most.

Their customer service is ok. Though it can be difficult to understand. But, they are very intelligent and can solve any situation with ease.

      You’re clearly lying.

You’ve had one issue which they resolved in 15 minutes and now you are an expert on the fact that they can solve any situation with ease?

I challenge you to even get through to Crazy Domains technical support without spending over 15 minutes on hold alone.

I reckon you work for Crazy Domains.

My God I am so confused. I was hoping to try and save some money by setting up my own website etc using the same company for domain name, server, emails, email marketing etc. New to business in need of a website has only confused me on just who to use. I was looking at Crazydomains before reading these feedbacks. Obviously GoDaddy is not a suitable option if you are based in Australia??

Damned, why didn’t I read these before singning with them… their customer service really sucks, and the e-mail hosting seems to be down at least once a week. This time it has been down several times this week, and I haven’t been able to access it for the last 24 hrs. Trying to run my business whti them seems to be impossible.

They are absolutely beyond useless. We have web and email hosting with them and can’t wait to leave. Their server has been down 5 times this month – with at 14 hours down in the last 24 hours… and their customer service is useless. My complaints on their facebook page today were quickly deleted as were many others….

Crazy Domains are the WORST COMPANY to ever deal with !!!!!

Ridiculously long wait times trying to communicate with them on the phone, always been put on hold for 30minutes or more ! Email also useless, lucky to even get and answer back !

I have over 300 Domains and Hostings with them. They used to be good many years ago when they were a privately run company where the owners were directly linked with profits and proceeds. Having been bought out by large corporation lost their incentive to provide good customer service, help and representation.

I am 2000miles beyond frustrated with them and am transferring all my renewals and product purchases to other companies.

Crazy Domains, I am patient and resiliant but after many years of bad service and its increasingly getting worse you have lost my business !!!!!

Crazy domains are so bad. You call them and get hung up on immediately. How ridiculous is that? Yesterday I tried calling about 8 times and was immediately disconnected. I have tried phoning in the past and am very often disconnected, which is nothing short of infuriating if you’ve been on hold for 20-40 minutes minimum.

Email is constantly down yet their servers show no problems on the website. Email exchange isn’t cheap.

    WORST SERVICE EVER

Everyone above who is complaining about Crazy domains have every right to. I am on the phone to them right now to them waiting for support to answer and it has been – and I’m not exaggerating – 2 hours. As I sit here I am bombarded with sales audio on how great they are. It is serious disinformation. I am a reseller with these guys and am in the process of my clients away from them. I strongly recommend to anyone, especially professionals, not to engage this company. You can’t complain about the prices but the old adage ‘you get what you pay for’ certainly comes in here.
Their professional services are constantly falling over. Email for Exchange is a mess with it constantly offline. Don’t use their anti-SPAM product. It too is constantly failing with email for your clients being delayed for hours because of it. The reseller tech support who claim replies with in a working day simply never answer your emails at least 80 precent of the time. You cannot speak to them on the phone.
The first level tech support people read off scripts and in my opinion have very little knowledge of the technology they manage. They say they are based in Perth. If so, Crazy must operate a rigid multi-cultural employment policy for I have never spoken to an Australian accent yet – except in sales of course. One of the truly awful things they do is there so is called ‘extensive support documentation available online’. They pipe this to you whilst sitting on hold. I have found countless examples of setup that is simply incorrect, full typos and badly written. What is shocking about this is that reseller support admit they need updating – but they simply don’t do it. One guy told me that it wasn’t his job!! It is a true insight to the disarray that must be going on there. Having accurate online support documentation alleviates pressure on the support crew.
It signals that the executive is really at fault which is often the case.
As a professional, if you sign up with these guys you will find yourself wasting an awful lot of time dealing with their incompetence. I am now still sitting on the phone at 2 hours and 32 minutes. This is to deal with a POP service that won’t log on (via Outlook).

I registered with crazy domains last night, and everything has been going wrong since then. I only just realised that apart from buying the domain and website hosting, you also have to buy pages, web builders and much more. I strongly suggest if you want a website, go to somewhere like JustHost or Hostgator.

I moved from bluehost to crazydomains 2 weeks ago. I was very happy with bluehost, had excelent service, their help was fast and great especially online help with chat which was instant. The only reason I moved to crazydomains was to get a .com.au site which should’ve boost or enhance my 2 month campaign on SEO which was very successfull this far. I was on page 2 when moved as I thought the only way to hit front page on google and Bing is to have a .com.au site from Australia. Since I moved, they first messed up my domain registration and server ip’s, their cPanel is 80% worse than bluehost offerings. The website has been down 7 times in two weeks, I still have the .com site, not down once. The server crashed yesterday, server failure. It is down now for 2 days. I’ve had sooooo many client complaints and lost so much business it is scary to think off. Everytime I call, I’m in a queue for nearly an hour or more, the only thing they can tell me is they are working on the problem and their servers are failing, harware failures. I checked the server, it is obvious they overloaded it, the disc failures in the logs indicate total overload. I asked them to redirect the site to the .com site, they can’t do that. They have no backups, no failover capability, no contingency plan nothing. I even tried a last backup, but that does not work. I checked my search today on google and bing, I’m not even featuring on SEO as Google site crawler unfortunately tried to crawl my site the past few days. 2 months of dollors and huge amount of time spent down the drain, what a disgrace. And all they can tell me is they can’t do anything about it. They did not even return my emails or tickets, they don’t give a dime about your website or business. I was bumped from second to NOT FEATURING AT ALL on seo, horriffic I tell you. This turns out to be my worst nightmare, I will move away from them today. I asked them for cancellation, they can’t even do that. I asked them with whom do I speak, there is no one. DONT use these guys, they are worse than pathetic and total rip offs, they take your money is all they are interested in, in 20 years in an IT career I’ve never seen worse than this!!

I have put off changing for far too long now. Email is constantly down for extended periods and when it is up it is constantly rejecting my keychained passwords which need to be re-entered manually several times before they are accepted. I do not have this problem with my iinet accounts and can only conclude that the problem is at their end.

Have had a long history of outages, failures and frustration.

My advice – back up any data you have with them and get out before they are gone for good.

Hah! Not only is my email down, my website is down. Guess what. Crazy Domains website is down too!! These guys are hopeless!
They can’t even get their act together to keep their own website up. Have they not ever heard of redundancy?

More likely they have probably shut down – taken the oney and run. We’ll see. Good excuse to get my stuff hosted elsewhere. My concern now is whether or not I can rescue the stuff they were hosting like my blog and folio galleries?

Can anyone suggest a good Australian host?

I wish I had read this before buying a domain and dns hosting with CrazyDomains. Misleading pricing for DNS hosting. Unable to receive mail via google apps gmail via any domain other than google, even after waiting 3 days (has been set up and domain verified correctly)., Tried the exact same setup with melbourne I.T and everything worked within an hour.

Waited 24 hours for their response as to why, no answer, so transferred it straight to melb I.T.

Anyone saying they have good customer service or DNS servers will be working for them.

PLEASE CAN YOU SUGGEST AN ALTERNATE RELIABLE ISP PROVIDER? All my files vanished from FILE MANAGER. CD told me I deleted them but I did not delete them. My web-site remained visible for a few days. Then my web-site became inaccessible. Then my password stopped working. I obtained a new one. Then CD restored my files but was a tad out-of-date. I updated it. I don’t keep many files so not a big drama. Telephoned 4x times and put on hold. Till I tried “Sales”. The lady requested my password ! Clearly not an administrator but trying to help. Then, the phone line had disturbance. CD used to provide nice service when I joined 3 years ago. Talk on the phone, respond to emails. I only had 1 problem before. I think CD staff are nice people but overworked.

I re-iterate all the negative comments here as I reckon I have also experienced all of them. My emails are now taking up to 24 hours to come through and as a result my customer service levels have never been worse. I am now looking for a quick switch to get out of CD. They should not be allowed to operate in Australia……surely we as a nation can regulate this rubbish! Have now setup a temporary email address with OUTLOOK and wow amazing, emails come through in a couple of moments!!

    Yep guys.

I am having major troubles with CD. I moved over from a smaller provider to CD as they offer a cheaper service (and have unlimited data) etc. All there inclusions look good. My online sites are down all the time. They are up one minute and then down. Happens daily to all sites.

Can’t get through on the phone. Have been staying up till 2am to try and get them on the phone. Get answers from indian? people that can’t elevate a problem.

    I will be getting out.

Just haven’t looked at the refund policy, etc.

I have domains that are needing to be renewed in the next month or so. A couple I have transferred to CD, but may need to move these.

Yup yup yup x 3000 re Crazy Domains being the worst company in Australia. SO rude, SO unhelpful, SO uncaring. They couldn’t give two flying figs about you once you sign up with them. I have never in my life come across such rude people when you ring them.

They also have not a clue when you email support. Replies to support emails have not a thing to do with your question because they don’t understand English.

I had the misfortune of needing to ring them yesterday, the guy on the phone needs to be fired and banned from ever dealing with the public ever again in the entire world for his entire life. Disgusting person!

I wanted to move, I still want to move, but time is my enemy right now.

I went with CD because I wanted to support an Australian company, I still do. Then realised once I was stuck with them that they are NOT Australian.

Once upon a time this was a business to be proud of. Now they should hang their heads in complete and utter shame.

    NEVER use them, EVER!

My email and web site with Crazy Domains has been down all this morning. I have been with them for a number of years but have noticed it becoming increasingly unreliable. Can someone suggest a better provider? I don’t mind paying a bit more. The outages easily costs more in lost revenue than i save by being with them…

Crazy Domains would have to be THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH! No service and their online fax product doesnt even work. I hav been with Aweber for two years so I know ho simple an online fax service is to use but I received the instructions from Crazy Domains after being lured because it was cheaper and tried sending 8 FAXES, NONE OF WHICH REACHED THEIR DESTINATION. I emailed tech support 3 times after calling and holding for over half an hour twice without response. And get this, when I had the fee reversed back onto my credit card they then cancelled my hosting WITHOUT NOTICE and demanded I repay the fax and the $35 bank fee for the refund on the fax which NEVER WORKED. So now my website has been down for who-knows-how-long and their sitting back like some snot nosed kid telling me its my fault. Beware and DO NOT THROW YOUR MONEY AWAY ON THEIR CHEAP PRODUCTS THAT DO NOT WORK.

Crazy Domains are abismal…. they have no idea how to provide customer service.

I have had a simple request to add a linkedin ‘share’ button to the blog template, so that readers can share my blogs to their own linkedin page (not a normal link to Linkedin page)…. they already have Facebook and Twitter, but sadly these are not of use to me.

I have wasted so many hours on the phone to these fools, they just don’t get what I am requesting, their English is appalling, and when they don’t get my requests, they are just blatantly rude.

I have tried to speak with a supervisor or more senior technical support, but every time they either refuse or put me on hold, or hang up. The guy I spoke with yesterday was blatantly rude and abusive to me, he should be fired.

I would strongly advise anyone to seek a company that are Australian owned and have Australian staff from an Aussie call centre.

Don’t use these muppets, they are awful!!!

I was about to purchase web hosting thu crazy domains, but am certainly NOT now. pain in the but, as i’ve spent ages setting up my site on the free trial. I did ring customer support at one stage for a small problem. was waiting for ages and the guy was really rude and then hung up on me when the problem was still not resolved. Does anyone have any feed back on Hostpapa ??? I am a bit of a novice and need easy web set up, like the one on CD’s. Any help would be appreciated.

I wish I read this before I go with them.. Yes I thought of bring my stuff locally too and they are the worse thing ever.. doubt it that they are even local..
    Worst Customer Service
No body pick up the call
After 5 times of around 1 hour each and I finally press account instead of technical support, the person over there with heavy accent told me to sent email and they will respond in 24 hours. I said I did 2 days ago.. and he reply “yes sometimes it can reach 48” and quickly added “or more” then he continued: “you know you are not the only one who had important issues” – He said his name is Charlie.

this company is crab. they explain things from screen and repeat it for you as you don’t understand. selling a back order domain name , you pay for it without been able to use it. they charge you for it. I also had to wait 65 minutes then hang up , no sales or support staff were available.
sent them two emails…….. it is two days that no one has responded to me.
when finally was able to speak to someone on the second day,,,,,, he was reading from screen. found him very rude,,,,,,,,,, he couldn’t take a strong speaker as a woman,,,,,,,,,, luckily I was not there. DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE PURCHASING.
personally I would not recommend them ………… waste of money, time , no support as it says 24/7.

CRAZYDOMAINS.COM.AU Daylight Robbery of Australian & Overseas Citizens.

We have very little choice but to inform the public of our encounter with crazydomains.com.au.

Approximately one year ago we signed up for a reseller account with crazydomains.com.au and transferred 5 – 10 of our clients/customers across. What a mistake we made, our experience thus far has been no short than a horror movie. The money’s that was collected from our client’s was held by crazydomains.com.au for well over one year and still till this date we are still trying to get these funds. We have spent over 30 hours of phone calls half of this time would have been our calls on hold. Crazy domains on all occasions, advised that the payment was made to our nominated account as requested. Clearly on our business bank statements there is no payment. So crazydoimains is saying they paid the money’s when we have more than clear evidence that they have not. Read on below it gets better.

We decided recently to take crazydomains.com.au to the civil minor claims courts in both South Australia & Queensland and lost both cases. The argument was simple, we were pursuing the money’s from our clients/customers we had collected over the past approximately one year. We supplied the courts with bank statements and other evidence clearly showing that the payments were not made as crazydoimains have claimed. Both cases in the minor civil courts where lost in the above states.

We attended our minor court hearing in Queensland, QCAT which was assigned for approx. 11am that morning. There was 6 people awaiting court hearings. Ironically we were the last to be heard, but fell short and was advised the courts didn’t have enough time for the hearing and that they would reschedule, by this time it was around 1pm. For such a simple case with such concrete evidence that should generally take no more than 30 minutes was surprisingly rescheduled. In the end both claims in both states as mentioned above where rejected.

Conclusion: It is very clear that crazydoimains does NOT have their customer’s best interests at heart. Our experience has been a living hell and we have lost money. Our view is crazydoimains may be making decent money and highly likely have Australian Government personal on their pay rolls, as they seem to be getting away with day light robbery. If you Google “crazydoimains complaints” you will find dedicated websites and forums to thousands and thousands of complaints and bad business experiences, yet this company under the banner of “crazydoimains” is still operating.

Ironically, as per the thousands of websites and forums even the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) cannot stop this company and its bad business practices.
Please be extremely careful in doing business with this company as you probably do not want to be another statistic. Like the hundreds and thousands of Australian as well as overseas citizens, currently suffering.

For those with bad experiences like the one above looking for an alternative for reseller services or hosting needs please feel free to visit http://www.serversaustralia.com.au .

    HIDDEN FEES

I just wanted to warn friends about a trick that http://www.crazydomains.com.au do in order to extort more money from you.

Crazy domains seems cheap but after you purchase a domain name for your website you are then required to pay an extra $20.00 in order to use the domain.

They only tell you this after your initial purchase and there is no refund!
